MBFWA 2015

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia has just wrapped up and showcased some stunning new collections, where we saw some chic beauty looks which are versatile and easy to recreate. Our picks on the best beauty looks from MBFWA 2015 are…

Ginger & Smart’s was one of our favourite looks this year, with a collection of loose silhouettes and soft fabrics. Their styling was complimented with a deep side part and movement, to create a delicate, romantic look.

Step 1: To get the look, start with Elements Quicksand and apply to the roots of your hair for lift and volume. Then add a generous amount of Elements Motion, a non-tacky mousse that delivers a firm, flexible hold to your hair. It is perfect for smoothness and curl retention in humid conditions.

Step 2: Using a hairdryer, add movement through mid-lengths and ends and then part hair to the side. Go quite deep with the part, it’s all about getting your hair to sit to one side loosely.

Step 3: Finish with a spray of Elements Amplify. Formulated to provide volume and body, Amplify absorbs into each hair shaft, giving hair all over volume and shine with a sleek look and feel.

Celebrating her last show at MBFWA and opening this year’s 20th anniversary Fashion Week in Sydney, Ellery’s collection saw Australian veteran model Gemma Ward return to the runway and reintroduced the 70’s trend of flares back into fashion. The dishevelled bun, which was the signature look for Ellery’s show. Effortless and a little tough, this look created an striking contrast to the garments.

Step 1: Start with dry hair. Apply our Defence Argan Oil to mid-lengths and ends to add shine to hair, softening locks.

Step 2: Spray Elements Ocean Mist to hair for that soft fly-away, dishevelled texture. Containing organic seaweed extract, this spray adds natural movement to your hair.

Step 3: Mist ends with Elements Vapour Mist hair spray for added grip and texture. Its lightweight formula ensures perfect control without weighing your hair down.

Step 4: Using your hands, pull hair back into a low ponytail. Twist the hair around the base of the ponytail forming a loose bun securing with a bun at the nape of your neck. Gently tug at the bun to create a messier look and use your fingers to create subtle fly-aways around the top of the head.

Step 5: Finish with a light spray of Elements Afterglow to add shine and glow to your look without affecting the dishevelled, textured finish.

We are handsome

Known for their vibrant, graphic prints, We Are Handsome introduced active wear to their repertoire. To match the jungle and floral tops, leggings and swimsuits, models sported slicked back low ponytails and intricate, bold up-dos adding drama to the trend.

Step 1: Start by washing your hair using Instant Allevi8 Shampoo and Conditioner, infused with a blend of organic ingredients to ensure frizz-free and silky hair.

Step 2: Work in our Elements Mudslide from root to ends of hair. This is a strong hold sculpting crème that adds texture, shine and definition.

Step 3: Comb your hair back and tease at the crown to create lift. Then, pull hair back into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck and secure with an elastic. If you’re going for the side bun look, part to the side and comb over, pulling back tightly and securing at the side of your head. Plait mid-lengths to ends and then twist into a bun, securing with bobby pins.

Step 4: Finish the look by spraying our Elements Granite Lacquer, a strong-hold hairspray onto your hair. For extra shine, spray Elements Afterglow onto the lengths of the ponytail!

The hair at this year’s Aje show was elegant and romantic, with the low ponytails framing models’ faces.. This was a beautiful contrast to the embellishment and strong shapes of the garments.

Step 1: Create a natural centre part and apply Elements Barrel Wave evenly throughout your hair. A defining crème, this product creates manageable, smooth curls ensuring no frizz.

Step 2: Part hair horizontally now, mid-way behind your ear in a curve shape. Take the bottom section and secure into a low ponytail. Lightly backcomb the mid-lengths and ends of the ponytail.

Step 3: Apply a small amount of Elements Quicksand to the roots of your hair, creating body and lift around the crown of your head. Delicately pull loose hair above the ears, letting natural shorter hairs around the face fall free – this will create a slightly ‘undone’ finish.

Step 4: Spray your ponytail with Elements Sandstorm for a matte texture finish. This sculpting spray also adds fullness to the hair containing Certified Organic Rice Starch and Rooibos Extract.

Step 5: Finish with a light spritz of Elements Vapour Mist to hold the style, without any tackiness.
